Great hills for sliding, cruising and bombing.

Over the last seven years we have been sliding, bombing and skating around Falmouth. Here are our favourite spots.

Ferry Boat (Helford Passage)

“The Ferry Boat”, Helford Passage, Cornwall, UK

This run starts off with some really narrow and steep downhill, going into a smooth left. Immediately afterwards is a steep sharp right heading down to the beach. It’s loads of fun seeing what trick you can do going in and coming out of the last corner. Oh yeah, mind out for the wall that greets you as you take the second corner and be prepared to smile at the tourists outside the pub at the bottom.

Maenporth Hill:

This 1:4 run ends at Maenporth beach. It’s a straight blast that doesn’t let-up until you get to the bottom – an insane hill which munches gloves and wheels like there's no tomorrow. Only skate this if you are confident in your sliding ability as it takes a long time to stop.

Castle Drive:

Being the local hill, this is where most of our techniques were developed. A really quiet hill with varying gradients from nice-and-easy to fast-and-fearless. You will probably find us all there most Sundays getting some skating in before the Monday Blues. Please be respectful to the locals who have shown themselves very tolerant of skateboarders.

Porth Curno:

Porthcurno, Cornwall, UK

This Cornish village is renowned for its sandy beaches but few will tell you it harbours a wicked right-hand hairpin which has to be skated to be believed.

Other places in Cornwall, UK

The nature of this peninsula means there are hills everywhere, including the approach to most beaches. Places we can be found include Pendennis Castle, Falmouth’s “exotic gardens”, the Falmouth Arts Centre and the Princess Pavilion. This is agreat place for visitors and there is a lot to do, other than skate, when you come here.

If you are thinking of coming down to skate the hills heres a top B&B, and no we are not on commision! :-)

Falmouth Lodge Backpackers is conveniently situated, next to Princess Pavilion, Falmouth Lodge Backpackers is just 5 minutes walk from the town centre, the harbour and Pendennis Castle. Gyllyngvase Beach and the coastal footpath are also just 100 meters away so the front bedrooms have sea views.

The hostel is owned, and managed, by experienced world traveller, Charlotte Mitchell. It is friendly, clean, homely, smoke free, and the perfect environment to come and relax in. Just kick your boots off and take it easy.

Guests have the use of a well equipped kitchen, dining room and a TV lounge with a DVD player. A computer, with a broadband connection is also available, so you do not have to go to the local internet cafe, to check your e-mail. There are games, bicycles, frisbee's, boogie boards and a stunt kite to play with, too.
